Design Thoughts:

I created the diamond pattern originally for a different flyer, but didn't end up using it. I thought that it would work perfectly with this baby shower invitation that I was creating. I made the pattern using the custom shape tool and step and repeat, which made it easy to make everything the same distance apart. The pattern is on my background layer. I then created a couple of rectangular shapes and added strokes in the middle of the invitation. The design is simple, but it has plenty of white space and the rectangles bring out the important information that I was trying to convey. I also used the connotation of blue being a boy to my advantage.

Design Principles:

Contrast: Blue and white. Script and san-serif fonts.

Repetition: Diamond pattern. Blue color. Fonts.

Alignment: Center.

Proximity: Date, time, and address. RSVP and registry.
